Oman Accelerates Tourism Vision with $390 Million Al Bustan Mega Project
Oman has taken a significant step toward strengthening its tourism sector with the signing of a $390 million agreement to develop a landmark integrated tourism complex in the Al Bustan area of Muscat.
The agreement, signed between the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group), underscores the Sultanate’s continued commitment to diversifying its economy and positioning itself as a premium travel destination in the region. A Landmark Development in the Heart of Muscat The Al Bustan project will span approximately 138,000 square metres and is expected to be completed within four years. Strategically located in central Muscat, the development is set to enhance the capital’s tourism infrastructure while leveraging its natural mountainous landscape and coastal appeal. Officials highlighted that the project’s location plays a crucial role in supporting broader tourism growth across the governorate, aligning with national development priorities.
Designed as a fully integrated tourism destination, the complex will feature a mix of hospitality, residential, and leisure offerings. At its core will be a 200-room luxury hotel, complemented by 91 branded freehold residential units. The development will also include: A marina designed to boost yacht tourism, a yacht club and waterfront experiences, high-end restaurants and retail outlets. The project is expected to be operated by the globally renowned hospitality brand Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, adding international prestige and attracting high-value visitors.
Beyond its immediate economic impact, the Al Bustan complex aligns with Oman’s broader strategy to expand its tourism sector under long-term national frameworks such as Vision 2040. The initiative aims to create sustainable, high-quality destinations that cater to both international tourists and local residents. By combining luxury hospitality with marine tourism and residential offerings, the project reflects a growing trend in the region toward integrated lifestyle destinations. The Al Bustan tourism complex is more than just a real estate development—it represents a strategic investment in Oman’s future. With its blend of natural beauty, upscale amenities, and global partnerships, the project is poised to elevate Muscat’s profile on the international tourism map.
As the Sultanate continues to invest in world-class infrastructure and experiences, developments like this signal a clear ambition: to transform Oman into one of the Middle East’s most sought-after travel and lifestyle destinations.
