DMCC Launches Maritime Centre
2026-04-11
Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) has announced the launch of its new Maritime Centre, a strategic initiative aimed at reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global hub for shipping, maritime trade, and finance. The newly established DMCC Maritime Centre is designed as a comprehensive commercial platform that brings together key components of the global maritime ecosystem, including shipping companies, logistics providers, financial institutions, insurers, legal advisors, and technology firms.
By integrating these services, the Centre aims to create a unified environment that supports deal-making, financing, and risk management across the maritime value chain. Building on an existing base of more than 150 maritime-related companies operating within DMCC, the Centre formalises this network into a structured, transaction-oriented ecosystem. This move is expected to enhance collaboration, increase deal flow, and enable greater value capture from global shipping activities within Dubai. Unlike a regulatory body or port operator, the DMCC Maritime Centre will function as a business-driven platform. It will offer services spanning maritime finance, insurance, legal advisory, digital documentation, and commercial intelligence—reflecting the evolving nature of the shipping industry, where value is increasingly derived from how trade is financed, structured, and managed. A key feature of the initiative is its integration with DMCC FinX and the DMCC Wealth Hub, enabling maritime businesses to access capital, manage risk, and structure wealth within a single ecosystem. This approach connects physical shipping operations with financial and advisory services, supporting more efficient and scalable global trade activities.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, emphasized the strategic importance of the launch, noting that modern shipping extends beyond the movement of goods to include financing, structuring, and managing trade flows. The Maritime Centre is designed to capture a larger share of this value within Dubai and position the emirate at the forefront of the global maritime economy. The launch marks a significant milestone in DMCC’s broader strategy to deepen Dubai’s integration into global trade value chains and enhance its competitiveness alongside leading international maritime hubs.
